Sringeri Sharada Peetha Pilgrimage Sringeri Sharada Peetha, also known as Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetham, is one of the four Hindu Advaita Mutts established by Adi Shankaracharya. The Mutt follows the principles of Yajur Veda, described by Krishna. As per the Mutt culture established by Adi Shankaracharya, the head is called Jagadguru, teacher of the world. Jagadguru also carries Shankaracharya as a title in his name. The seat of transcendental wisdom, known as Vyakhyana Simhasana, is presently held by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami. He is 36th in the unbroken lineage of Acharyas, and oversees Mutt activities and works to sustain Sanatana Dharma, while preaching thousands of disciples. A sculpture of Goddess Sharada, the Goddess of Knowledge, is established in the shrine by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Situated in mountain ranges of the Sahyadri, the town of Sringeri can be approached by road.
