Tiruchendur Temple  Pilgrimage Tiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy Temple is situated in Tiruchendur town, at a distance of about 80 km from Kanyakumari, 60 km from Tirunelveli and 40 km from Tuticorin. The Murugan Temple of Tiruchendur is situated atop a hill which is known as Chandana Hill. It is believed that Lord Muruga offered prayers to Lord Shiva at this place after defeating the demon Soorapadma. Tiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy Temple is situated on the coast of Mannar. It is situated close to the sea and the eastern wall of Tiruchendur Temple touches the sea waves from the Gulf of Mannar. The architectural style of Tiruchendur Temple is unique since its Rajagopuram is constructed towards the west instead of the east. The nine storey Rajagopuram or the Mela Gopuram is about 42 meters high above Yalimattam. It is about 28 meter long in the north-south direction and is about 20 meter broad in east – west direction. The top of the Mela Gopuram is about 6.1 meters wide and 15 meters long.
